Those smiles absolutely melt her heart with the warmth that it brings. Picturing the way he changes his expression from one mood to another and ending up with the smile on her makes her heart beat so fast it hurts.

It makes her long more to be with him, cradled in his arms, fill her breath with the fragrance of the heat from his body, and quench the hurting desire of his love for her. And yet, it was just so impossible. He was way up high he does not even have a ballpoint of an idea that she exists.

Zoë Anne Lewis, 22 years of age, dark black hair with fair complexion is on her way to Los Angeles. Her mom was Chinese and her dad was Asian. They met when her mom accompanied a Chinese team as a nurse in the Asian games held 25 years ago. She closed the picture of her most admired martial arts actor – Ken Lianjie – or Lan Lianjie in Chinese. She would often dream out her day as one of Ken’s leading woman in his movies.

But it was not really like the love-of-my-life thing of dreams. She admires him for his fighting skills and praises him for his acting talent. He inspires her spirit to excel in the field of martial arts. She may not be practicing Kung – fu as she does Karate-do but it was the same to her. For her, they both belong to the same world of Martial Arts. Besides, Kung-fu Masters are rare in some places of Asia.

She was 18 at the time the picture was given to her by a friend on her 18th birthday. It was a picture of one of Ken Lianjie’s movies where they edited Anne in place of Ken’s leading woman. ‘Happy 18th Birthday Zoë Anne and congratulations for making your way to top on your first Kumite Competition!’ it says. She has this picture enclosed into one of the pages of her portfolio. She had it faced down since the thought of anyone seeing it embarrasses her. She then printed her name and her apartment address in LA to conceal its true content.

Aside from the picture are documents that would somehow bring her up to her dreams. Becoming an actress and Ken’s leading woman was one of her big dreams, too but she knew it was an impossible one so it was okay to have the picture faced down. After all, he is way up high above the society and he doesn’t even have a ballpoint of an idea that she exists. But at least dreaming of him and her pairing up in a movie, takes out her frustrations and relaxes her in the middle of life’s pressures.

“All passengers please prepare for landing. We will be landing in Los Angeles International Airport in a few minutes.”

Zoë Anne snapped out of her daydreams and quickly prepared her things. Once more she checked in her portfolio her Visa, passport and other documents she needed for her work in GWM Construction Firm. Well, at least dreaming of becoming one of the finest interior designers in any country is paving her way. The GWM Constructions is not really a prestigious firm but it would be a good start for a fresh artist like her.

“Welcome to Los Angeles.” said the stewardess.

As the stewards assisted them out, Anne suddenly lost herself again in her daydreams. And this time, it was one of those times of the day where she would walk blankly not paying too much attention of what’s going on around her, like now. A man came up to talk to her and she hardly noticed what the man was saying but she stayed behind though when they were asked to remain for awhile.

“Miss, we are trying to…” someone started talking to her again and she barely paid attention to it. “Can you…”

“Okay, thank you, thank you …” she agreed to the man’s requests despite an unclear understanding of what they were talking about.

When everyone was signaled to go, Anne went last in the line still lost in her dreams. She won’t get lost as she was following the people in front of her and not keeping too much distance from the man behind her. That’s how she leads her way when she gets drowned to her dreams.
